The 3 Habits for Life-Changing Success in the Gym (Most People Miss)
Jun 08, 2024I think you’ll agree with me when I say:
Getting valuable results in the gym is REALLY hard.
However, it isn’t as hard as you might think.
You can get great results in the gym fairly ‘easy’, but only if you do what’s truly necessary to accomplish them.
That’s where most people struggle.
At my gym everyone gets results. But not all results are created equal. There are individuals who get greater results than others. It all depends on the behavior of the individual.
I observed what makes the people getting the best results have in common.
In this newsletter I share my observations with you. If you copy what makes them successful, I’ll guarantee you that your body, health and life will never be the same again.
Let’s dive in.
They know what they want
The most successful have a clear goal.
The clearer the goal, the easier it is to achieve it.
If you don’t have a clear goal, you’re just shooting blind. Everything you do will do something. But something isn’t anything specific. And if your efforts aren’t targeted to a specific outcome, you’re just wasting time.
You might think, “yeah but I know exactly what I want”.
Do you really?
I can tell you from experience that goal setting is one of the hardest parts. Most people who hire me struggle with this. Sure, they all mention things they want like losing weight, having more energy, and get rid of physical ailments.
Sounds great, but it doesn’t say much. You need to be very specific.
Want to lose weight?
How much? And now the actual truth; how much weight do you really want to lose?
Want to have more energy?
To do what exactly? How do you want to feel?
Want to get rid of physical pain?
What pain? What do you want to be able to do what you can’t do right now?
You see, the more specific you’ll become with your goals, the easier it gets to achieve them.
You can’t shoot a target you can’t see.
They put in the work
There’s often a big gap between ‘willing’ and ‘doing’.
And I mean a very big gap, more like a crater.
Most people excel in talking the talk, but fail at walking the walk.
And that’s a big problem.
You can’t expect results form work that isn’t done. You have to do the “push-ups” —literally and metaphorically.
That’s where most people struggle.
It’s easy to do the work for a few weeks. The difficult part is doing the work for months, years, or even the rest of your life. People who get the greatest results are the one’s who put in the work, without exception.
They’re the ones who are present, even if they have other things to do.
They’re the ones who catch up a session when they missed one.
They’re the ones who train hard, even when they feel tired.
The only way to achieve great results is with consistent targeted effort.
It’s either the hard part or the easy part, depending on how you view it.
They just listen
The most successful people in my gym, just listen.
They have a learners mentality.
They have an open mindset.
They’re coachable.
Listening to an experienced coach is one of the easiest things to do.
And yet, many simply don’t.
If you’re someone who thinks is smarter than your coach.
Is more knowledgeable than your coach.
Knows your body better than your coach.
Maybe, just maybe, that’s your problem.
Stubbornness is often a form of weakness, not strength.
The successful people in the gym understand they don’t know it all themselves.
That there are people who just know more about a topic than themselves.
That listening to their advice skyrockets their succes.
If you want to be successful in the gym; start listening.
Start listening to the people who actually know what they’re talking about.
It will be a determining factor in your succes story.
Success is a habit
“We are what we repeatedly do. Therefore excellence is not an act, but a habit.” — Aristotle
Success isn’t something magical.
It’s simply the result of your actions.
People who fail at the gym are the ones who’re just not putting in the reps.
If you want to be successful:
- Gain crystal clear clarity on your goals and desired outcomes.
- Adopt a relentless work ethic and put in the consistent effort, no matter what.
- Develop a growth mindset and have the dignity to learn from those who have walked the path before you.
Apply these foundational principles.
Start doing the work and results will naturally follow.
And if you’re getting stuck in the process, invest a world-class coach.
The returns are priceless.
